Practicing Primary Care Optometry
We believe everyone deserves to see their best to live their best
At National Vision, we believe that the optometrist is the hero of primary eye care, enabling and safeguarding their patient’s ability to experience his or her best vision. For many people, an optometrist is also the first point of contact into the healthcare system. The eyes can offer a window into overall health, and thus this first touch point can be critical for patients getting the care they need for serious conditions. We don’t take that responsibility lightly, which is why National Vision and all independent practices empower Doctors of Optometry to provide the highest quality of care.

Career Pathways
Opportunities Outside of the Exam Lane
Optometrists in our network are great at what they do, but we also recognize they may have other professional goals. The independent practices offer leadership opportunities such as Area Doctor positions, and National Vision supports career ambitions via opportunities for advancement beyond the exam lane, including the Clinical Advisory Panel, the Ambassador program and other leadership roles.
Optometrists Are the Heart of What We Do
Doctors play a vital role in making our mission possible, which is why we work hard to create an environment where they feel supported and empowered to focus solely on vision care.
Optometry Students and New Graduates
We strive to make the transition from student to practicing OD as smooth as possible.
OD Support Network
Optometrists in the network have peer-to-peer support and access to top-tier technology from day one to enable them to provide the highest quality of care.
Benefits for Doctors of Optometry
National Vision and all affiliated independent practices offer competitive benefits, including perks that help you balance work and life.
